Hatch & Bloom Origins: Time to Bloom (Part 3 of 3)

When I got home from backpacking around the world, I tried the most obvious pathway to ‘doing good’ - the nonprofit sector. I was brought on to build a project that would meet the collective vision of a multi-agency, public-private partnership in San Francisco. With so many people involved, there were just as many visions and dynamics to navigate.

No matter which sector I worked in, I was excellent at holding the vision, organizing the chaos of a new idea, navigating the setbacks, and ensuring we still met the ultimate goal.

But working across so many industries also confirmed for me that it is always our very human fears and feelings that slow us down.

Doing something new means taking a risk, and by definition, fear and insecurity are a part of risk. You can know every single step on the path towards change, but we can only make progress at the speed of trust.

This is when I added coaching to my tool belt. Project management wasn’t enough. It was crucial to be supporting humans in their growth as changes occurred.

This is why I call myself an idea doula. I’m not just a coach and I’m not simply a project manager. We will create a holistic partnership that values your lived experiences, identities, and expertise. We can talk about being what Shonda Rhimes calls “First. Only. Different." (FOD). We can work through imposter syndrome. We can battle perfectionism. You will grow stronger and continue to fulfill your potential, while bringing your idea to life.

I still help individuals and teams strategize, plan, and act on their ideas, but we do it in a much more humane and integrated way. Instead of ignoring your humanity, I help you wrangle the emotions that will inevitably arise and channel them towards your goals.
